Managed SecuritySecurity Data Lake

A security data lake in Saudi Arabia: keep every log, search it fast, pay less

We design and run a governed data lake for security telemetry, hosted in the Kingdom, so you can retain more, hunt across the full history and run detections without SIEM licensing driving your decisions.

  • Hot, warm and cold tiers for cost and speed
  • In-Kingdom or on-premises storage
  • Works alongside your existing SIEM

01Overview

What is a security data lake?

A security data lake is a central, low-cost store for security telemetry such as endpoint, network, cloud, identity and application logs, kept in a common schema. It lets you retain far more data than a traditional SIEM allows, run detections on the hot data and search the full history for investigations, threat hunting and audits.

Many organisations discard or shorten logs because SIEM pricing is based on ingestion volume. That makes investigations harder: attackers are often inside for weeks, and the evidence is already gone.

A data lake separates storage from analytics. Everything lands once in the lake, while only the data that needs real-time detection goes to expensive tooling. The result is longer retention, lower cost and a single place to search.

How the lake works

Everything lands once, in a form every tool can use.

  • Ingest and normalise

Collectors and pipelines bring logs in and map them to a common schema.

  • Tier the data

Hot data supports real-time detection. Warm and cold tiers keep history cheaply.

  • Search and hunt

Query the full history in one place, across all sources.

  • Report and prove

Generate evidence for audits and investigations on demand.

03What we deliver

Six parts of a security data lake service

From design to operations.

An architecture that fits your estate

We size the lake from your log volumes and regulations and choose the platform and tiers that make sense.

  • Log source and volume assessment
  • Retention policy by source and regulation
  • Platform selection and hosting
  • Cost model against your current SIEM

What you receive

A design and a business case.

07Saudi Arabia and the GCC

A lake built around Saudi data rules

Where logs live, and for how long, are regulatory questions as well as technical ones.

  • NCA ECC

    Retention under the ECC

The ECC requires event logs to be collected, protected and reviewed, and your sector regulator may add retention periods. The lake keeps logs for as long as those rules require.

  • Residency

    In-Kingdom storage

Telemetry can be hosted on Saudi cloud or on your own infrastructure, so it does not leave the Kingdom.

  • PDPL

    Personal data in logs

Logs often contain personal data. Access, masking and retention follow PDPL principles.

  • SAMA

    Bank and insurer expectations

SAMA-regulated entities benefit from long-term, searchable evidence for incident and audit work.

Regional telecom operatorManaged detection and response

24/7 managed detection and response for a telecom operator

Alert volumes had outgrown the in-house team, and mean time to respond was too long.

  • Onboarded endpoint, network and identity telemetry
  • Tuned detections to the operator's environment
  • Defined escalation paths and response playbooks

Result: Fewer false positives, faster containment and weekly reporting the security leadership could act on.

Regional telecom operatorSecurity data lake

A security data lake for long-term telemetry

SIEM licensing costs forced short retention, and investigations could not look far enough back.

  • Landed telemetry in a governed data lake in the Kingdom
  • Kept hot detections in the SIEM
  • Added search and hunting over the full history

Result: Longer retention at a lower cost, and faster investigations.

Tier-1 Saudi bankRed team exercise

A threat-led red team exercise for a bank

The bank needed evidence that its people, processes and detection would hold up against a realistic attacker, in line with SAMA expectations.

  • Agreed rules of engagement and a threat scenario with the CISO
  • Ran a controlled exercise against production systems
  • Ran a purple team workshop so defenders could see every step

Result: Detection gaps were fixed, playbooks were updated and the board received a plain-language report.

11Questions answered

Security Data Lake FAQs

What is a security data lake?

It is a central, low-cost, governed store for security telemetry in a common schema, with tiers that balance speed and cost, used for detection, hunting, investigation and audit.

Does a data lake replace my SIEM?

Not necessarily. Many organisations keep a SIEM for real-time detection and use the lake for long retention, hunting and cost control.

How long can we keep logs?

As long as you choose. Retention is set by policy per source, from months to years, based on regulation and investigation needs.

Where will our data be stored?

In Saudi-hosted cloud or on your own infrastructure, depending on your requirements, with encryption and access control.

Can we search old logs quickly?

Yes. Warm tiers are searchable quickly, and cold tiers are searchable on demand with slightly longer response.

How much can we save?

It depends on your volumes and current licensing. We build a cost model from your own data before you commit.

Which log sources can you collect?

Endpoints, firewalls, servers, cloud platforms, identity providers, applications, email, databases and OT systems.

Is a data lake compliant with NCA and PDPL?

It can be designed to support them: logs are collected, protected and retained under policy, with access control and in-Kingdom hosting. Your compliance team confirms how the rules apply to you.
