What it is

What is structured cabling?

Structured cabling is the standardised system of copper and fiber cables, patch panels, outlets and pathways that carries every network, phone, Wi-Fi and security-camera connection in a building. It is designed to a published standard, so any compliant equipment works on it, and it is built to outlast several generations of the equipment connected to it.

Cabling is a small share of a network's cost and the source of a large share of its hardest-to-trace faults. Poor terminations, kinked cable, tight bends and mixed products cause intermittent errors that are expensive to find once the walls are closed. That is why we treat cabling as engineering, with design, testing and records, rather than as a job of pulling cable.

A properly installed system supports today's 1G and 10G links and the PoE cameras, access points and phones that draw power over the same cable, and it leaves headroom for what comes next. We install new systems, extend existing ones, and survey and certify cabling installed by others.

What we install

Copper to the desk, fiber to the building, proof for every link

Six workstreams that together make a cabling system you can trust and trace.

Copper to the desk, the access point and the camera

Horizontal cabling from the telecom room to every outlet, specified for the speeds and the power your devices will need in ten years, not only today.

  • Cat6 and Cat6A, shielded (F/UTP) or unshielded (U/UTP) to suit the site
  • 10GBASE-T support to 100 m on Cat6A
  • Power over Ethernet up to 90 W per port (IEEE 802.3bt) for cameras, access points and phones
  • Zone and consolidation-point cabling for open-plan offices
  • Outlets, faceplates and patch cords matched to the cable
  • Containment: tray, conduit, trunking and floor boxes

What you get: A copper system that carries 10G and PoE++ with margin to spare.

How we work

From survey to certified handover

The work is predictable when the design and the survey are right. Most of the effort goes in before the first cable is pulled.

Start with a conversation
  1. Survey and requirements

We walk the site, review building plans and agree outlet counts, bandwidth, PoE and growth needs, plus pathway and fire-stopping constraints.

  2. Design

Topology, telecom room locations, patch-panel layout, pathway routes, drawings and a bill of quantities you can compare against other bids.

  3. Schedule and approvals

Working windows, building management approvals, permits and coordination with other trades.

  4. Install

Pathways, cable pulling, termination, firestopping and labelling, with neat dressing in every cabinet.

  5. Test and certify

Every link tested. Failures are rectified and re-tested before anything is handed over.

  6. Handover

As-built drawings, test reports, labelling schedule and a short briefing for the people who will maintain it.

Why GoAgile

Why clients choose GoAgile for cabling

Cabling is the one system nobody wants to touch twice. These are the habits that make sure nobody has to.

Every link certified

Results handed over in electronic form, so the quality is on record and not on trust.

Documentation you can use

Labels, port maps and as-built drawings that let a new engineer trace any link.

Designed before pulled

A survey and a design come first, so route lengths, pathways and capacity are right on day one.

Part of a whole project

The same team can supply the racks, floors, Wi-Fi and data centre, so trades do not collide on site.

Fire and safety minded

Firestopping, LSZH where required and rated pathways, installed and recorded.

Questions answered

Structured Cabling FAQs

What is structured cabling?

Structured cabling is a standards-based system of copper and fiber cables, patch panels, outlets and pathways that supports all the data, voice, Wi-Fi and security connections in a building. Because it follows published standards, different vendors' equipment works on it and it can be extended and changed in a predictable way.

What is the difference between Cat6 and Cat6A?

Cat6 supports 1 Gb/s to 100 m and 10 Gb/s only over short runs, up to about 55 m. Cat6A supports 10 Gb/s over the full 100 m channel and handles more Power over Ethernet heat and crosstalk, so it is the usual choice for new offices, access points and cameras.

What is the maximum length of an Ethernet cable?

For twisted-pair copper the channel limit is 100 m: up to 90 m of permanent cabling in the wall plus up to 10 m of patch cords. Beyond that you need fiber or an active extension such as a switch.

Should I choose copper or fiber?

Use copper for connections to desks, access points and cameras up to 100 m, especially where PoE is needed. Use fiber for risers, links between buildings, data centre links and anything beyond 100 m. Many projects use both.

How much does structured cabling cost per point in Saudi Arabia?

Price per point depends on cable type, route length, ceiling and wall construction, containment, testing and site access. We quote per point and per project after a survey, with the bill of quantities visible so that bids can be compared fairly.

Do you test and certify every cable?

Yes. Every copper and fiber link is tested, results are recorded by cable ID, and any failure is rectified and re-tested before handover. You receive the full test reports.

How long does structured cabling last?

Well-installed cabling commonly serves for ten years or more and often outlives several generations of network equipment. Choosing Cat6A and OM4 or OS2 fiber today gives the most headroom.

Can you cable while we are working in the building?

Yes. We phase the work by floor or zone and use night or weekend windows where noise, dust or access would disrupt operations.

Can you survey and fix cabling that someone else installed?

Yes. We survey, test and report on existing cabling, certify what meets the standard, and replace or re-terminate what does not. We also label and document systems that have no records.

Do you install cabling for data centres and industrial sites?

Yes. We install high-density fiber and copper in data centres, and ruggedised cabling for warehouses, plants and outdoor locations, with the right jackets, containment and protection.
